Panther Competitive Baseball
Introduction. In 2007 the Panthers had eight competitive teams that competed in the Arapahoe Youth League (AYL) competitive baseball program for our regular season games. Competitive teams also participate in many state and national tournaments in Colorado and other states. Regular season games are scheduled Monday-Thursday leaving the weekends for tournament play. Tournament play begins in March and regular season games begin in April, the season is over on July 9, 2008. A pre-season tournament to be held in March will determine placement in the Majors and AAA divisions.
- Competitive Baseball Divisions: The competitive league is broken down into 3 divisions. Teams are placed in a division based upon the results of and participation in a Pre-season AYL Seeding Tournament:
- Majors Division: The top 8 teams from the Pre-season AYL Seeding Tournament at each age group are placed in the Majors Division. This is the highest division.
- AAA Division:
- Ages 9 and 10: For ages 9 and 10, all teams not qualifying for the Majors Division will be placed in the AAA Division at the appropriate age level.
- Ages 11 and above: After placement of the top 8 teams in the Majors Division, the next 8 to 10 teams from the Pre-season AYL Seeding Tournament will be placed in the AAA Division at the appropriate age level. All other teams not seeded from the Pre-season AYL Seeding Tournament will be placed in the AA Continental Division at the appropriate age level.
- AA Continental (ages 11 and above only): Teams that choose not to participate in the Pre-season AYL Seeding Tournament but want to play competitive baseball and teams not seeded in the Majors or AAA Divisions from the Pre-season AYL Seeding Tournament will be placed in the AA Continental Division at the appropriate age level. There are no uniform restrictions for the AA Continental division teams. . Teams participating in the AA Continental division will play under the AYL AAA/MAJORS rules.
- Pre-season AYL Seeding Tournament. This is a mandatory tournament for all competitive teams except teams that want to be in the AA Continental Division. AYL conducts the Pre-season AYL Seeding Tournament. All 8 year old AAA Division teams are placed in that division therefore the Pre-season AYL Seeding Tournament is not used to seed those teams.
