2008 Panthers Developmental Baseball

Introduction.  In 2007 the Panthers had 12 developmental teams that competed in the Arapahoe Youth League (AYL) developmental program.  Unlike most recreational baseball programs, the developmental league is competitive in nature with a focus on player skill development, team concepts, and most importantly, FUN!  Panther baseball consists of 14-game regular season (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday games), beginning play on Friday, April 4, 2008 and concluding June 15, 2008. It is a highly organized league for children ages 5-14 focusing on fun, sportsmanship and the fundamentals of the game.

·          Developmental Divisions.  There are two divisions for children ages 5-14:

·                      AA Division:  The AA Division is for the more experienced player.

·                      A Division:  The A Division is designed for the new or beginning player.

·          AYL Pre-season Memorial Tournament.

·                      When: Friday March 7, 2008 through Sunday March 16, 2008. 

·                      Exhibition Tournament:  The AYL Memorial tournament will be comprised of 3 exhibition games. There will be no trophies, results, standings or champion.  The intent is to provide teams with the ability to assess their team in a structured, uncompetitive environment in advance of the regular season game play.  The AYL Memorial tournament is optional to all teams.  The AYL Memorial tournament entry fee is $200.

·          Regular Season.  League games will be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

·                      Duration of Season:  Friday April 4, 2008 through Sunday June 15, 2008. 

·                      Two Games per Week Limitation:  Teams will play no more than 2 games per week during the 11 week season. 

·                      Number of Games:  14 game regular season schedule.

·                      Makeup Games:  In the event of game cancellations, makeup games could be played Monday June 9, 2008 through Thursday June 12, 2008 at the discretion of the AYL Baseball Board.

·                      Schedule:  The Developmental League schedule will be posted March ___, 2008.

·          Post Season Playoffs and World Series.  At the conclusion of the 14 league games, ALL TEAMS will be seeded for the double elimination playoffs. 

·                      When:  June 18, 2008 through  July 13, 2008.  No playoff games will be scheduled between Wednesday July 2, 2008 through Sunday July 6, 2008. 

·                      Mandatory Coaches Meeting: The mandatory coaches meeting will be Monday June 16, 2008.

·                      World Series:  The World Series will be a single game championship game.  Therefore, the undefeated team representing the winners bracket in the World Series game does not need to lose twice to be eliminated.
