Developmental Baseball:
Unlike most recreational baseball programs, the developmental league is competitive in nature with a focus on player skill development, team concepts, and fun. Littleton Youth Sports baseball consists of 14-game regular season (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday games). It is a highly organized league for children ages 5-14 focusing on fun, sportsmanship and the fundamentals of the game.
Developmental Divisions: There are three divisions for children ages 5-14:
A Division: For new or less experienced baseball players.
AA National: For experienced baseball players who are not ready or interested in the competitive league commitment.
AA American: For experienced baseball players who are getting ready or interested in the competitive league commitment, and are looking for a competitive feel.
- AYL Memorial Tournament. The AYL Memorial tournament will be comprised of 4 games minimum. The AYL Memorial tournament is optional to all teams.
- Regular Season. League games will be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Duration of Season: April 1, 2012 through mid June 2012.
- Games per Week Limitation: Teams will play no more than 3 games per week during the 11 week season.
- Total Number of Games: 14 game regular season schedule.
- Makeup Games: In the event of game cancellations due to weather or other issues, makeup games could be played at any time at the discretion of the AYL Baseball Board.
- Schedule: The Developmental League schedule will be posted mid March 2012.
- Post Season Playoffs and World Series. At the conclusion of the 14 league games, ALL TEAMS will be seeded for the double elimination playoffs.
- No playoff games will be scheduled during the fourth of July holiday weekend.
- World Series: The World Series will be a single game championship game. The games are played July 13-15, 2012.
